Mini-holiday in Taupo

We are so thankful to the Lord for the 2-day family holiday He planned for us in Taupo this week! It didn't involve much forward-planning on our part, but it came together really well. And being the deal-seekers that we are, we managed to do quite a lot for not very much!

All-day pass to De Bretts Pools $ 24.95 courtesy of ezydeal
Campsite at De Bretts Holiday Park $ 40.00 courtesy of Jasons
Petrol $ 40.00 courtesy of our Mazda Demio
All-day pass to Huka Prawn Park $ 38.00 courtesy of GrabOne
Total Cost: $142.95

On top of that, the weather was nice, and we managed to catch 10 prawns between us that we brought home and cooked up for lunch the next day. And we can't forget to mention the kindness of our dear friends who lent us a tent and popped in a little spending money as well!

We've never visited De Bretts thermal pools before, and we really enjoyed it! Beautiful setting, and very relaxing!

Of course Daisie and Susie enjoyed the 4-storey dragon slide (and Mum and Dad had a turn too). Hollie made the most of the toddler water playground where there was a slide just her size!

Fueling up for some more relaxing!!

Daisie managed the first catch of the day, just a few minutes after we started fishing!

Susie had to keep trying all day, and only just hooked this one when we were getting ready to leave - it was our biggest catch of the day!

Hollie kept saying "me catch prawn" all day, so when Wayne hooked this one towards the end of the day he let her pull it in - she was happy!

The results of our day prawn-fishing (the bait is in the little cup at the bottom of the photo - it's diced ox heart).

Fun in the upgraded park at Taupo!
